Deutsche Bahn prepares for possible strikes by German Train Drivers’ Union - Alternative timetables in preparationDeutsche Bahn is preparing to cope with possible strikes by GDL, the German Train Drivers’ Union. In the event of strikes next week, customers will be fully informed about alternative timetables in good time. As from 12 h on Friday, 7 March, information will be available here on the site and through a free hotline at 0 8000 99 66 33. Customers outside Germany can obtain information by calling + 49 1805-334444 (call charges vary according to country and provider).
It is not yet possible to make any definite statements.
In case of train cancellations and delays, the following conditions apply to passengers who are unable to commence their journey or have to discontinue their journey because of train cancellations or delays caused by the strike:
Customers who miss their connecting train owing to the strike are entitled to travel with the next train, even if that is in a higher category. In that case, the customer’s ticket remains valid even if it was originally only valid on the booked train.
Passengers who have to discontinue their journey can travel back to the departure station free of charge and are also entitled to a fare refund
Free exchange or refund of tickets which are valid on the day of the strike but cannot be used on the day the strike.
The above refunds can be made until the end of March 2008.
Deutsche Bahn shall make every effort to keep inconvenience for its passengers to a minimum.
