于1894年建成的德国国会大厦,在德意志帝国和魏玛共和国时期即是国家议会的会址。1933年2月27日晚,发生了著名的国会纵火案,自那以后,纳粹党掌握了国家议会,将整个国家推向了二战的深渊。在两德分裂期间,战后修复的国会大厦位于西柏林,但此时联邦德国的议会已经迁往首都波恩。两德统一后,为了再度承担国会大厦的作用,国会大厦经历了又一轮重修,增加了一个特别的玻璃穹顶,并于1999年起正式成为德国联邦议会的会址。国会大厦西门上的“DEM DEUTSCHEN VOLKE”意为“为了德意志人民”。

勃兰登堡门是柏林的标志,也是德国的国家标志。这座建成于1791年的新古典主义风格的砂岩建筑,以雅典卫城城门为蓝本,门顶上是张开翅膀的胜利女神驾驶四轮马车的铜像,女神手中的权杖上,有橡树花环、铁十字勋章和展翅的鹰鹫,这一切都象征着战争的胜利。勃兰登堡门正面朝东,其以东的区域是柏林老城的核心所在, 这也是唯一仅存的柏林城门。勃兰登堡门立于此地的二百余年,见证了德国历史的兴衰。东西德分裂时期,柏林墙即竖立在勃兰登堡门的西面,几十年中再无人通过。如今的城门和周围的巴黎广场 (Pariser Platz),是在冷战结束之后,完成的最近的一次修缮。巴黎 广场上的建筑也都大有来头,有刚落成不久的美国大使馆,和曾经无数名流下榻过的阿德龙饭店(Hotel Adlon)等。

柏林大教堂
建于1894年-1905年,曾经作为王室的专用教堂,内饰极其华丽,它的室内金碧辉煌,装饰着线条复杂的柱子和精美的壁画,甚至柱头都是镀金的,地上建筑有4层,最高处高达114米。
菩提树下大街
这条宽阔的林荫大道,西起勃兰登堡门,东至博物馆岛,全长约1.5公里,是柏林最为迷人的道路之一。街道两边有许多著名的建筑。最西端为使馆区,其中白色大理石建造的俄罗斯大使馆(Russische Botschaft)最为显眼。中间一段有不少有意思的商店。到了东段,南面有倍倍儿广场(Bebelplatz),这里是1933年纳粹焚书事件的事发地,广场中央有一个玻璃覆盖的地下空书架雕塑以兹纪念。广场西侧为洪堡大学的老皇家图书馆(Alte Königliche Bibliothek),东南侧为圣黑德维希主教座堂 (Sankt-Hedwigskathedrale),东侧为柏林国家歌剧院(Staatsoper) 。在北面,沿街向东依次为老国家图书馆(Alte Staatsbibliothek),洪堡大学主楼(Humboldt Universität),新岗哨(Neue Wache)和德国历史博物馆(Deutsches Historisches Museum)。其中,新岗哨所在地,原先是普鲁士时代的岗哨,如今安置了一个“母亲与亡子“的铜像,用于纪念第一次世界大战中阵亡的战士。在洪堡大学外的大街正中,为腓特烈大帝的骑马铜像。
欧洲被害犹太人纪念碑
从稍高的地方望去,这个建在臭名昭著的纳粹宣传部原址上的纪念碑群形同一片由棺椁组成的波浪。这一纪念碑不是为幸存下来的犹太人而修建的,而是为德国人、为自己集体的记忆而修建的,展现出德国人直面历史的勇气,也给人以沉默的压抑和震撼。 这是一片庞大的水泥碑林。总共2711个混凝土立方柱在这一片开阔地上以网格状整齐排列,又因地势起伏和高度不同而参差不齐。一眼望去,只有灰白世界的色块。这是犹太建筑家Peter Eisenman设计,于2005年落成并开放的浩劫纪碑,旨在纪念无数在二战中无辜冤死的犹太灵魂。纪念碑的设计是有象征意义的,代表着一个原有秩序因人为因素而远离人类。但你也可以抛开这些既定的说法, 只在冰冷坚硬的水泥碑林中,感受心绪的悸动不宁。纪念碑就在勃兰登堡门以南不过百米,离德国国家议会(Bundestag)也十分近。 在如此心脏的位置,安置如此庞大的永久性的受害者纪念碑,也足可见德国这个国家对于战争反省之真诚与深刻。
